I'm out running the old 440 today. Running good for couple hours then the motor started to " flutter" then cleared up. 10-20 minutes later started to "flutter" and almost stalled then smoothed out again.
What is this? Poor fuel flow? Something internal? It kind of sounded like it was only running on one cylinder when " fluttering". I will try to change fuel filter tomorrow. Maybe that will help.
Let me know your thoughts.
Thanks, Jason

Re: Detroit diesel
Sounds like a fuel problem. Yes filters, first. Next plugged line etc. Fuel cap breather hole plugged ?

Re: Detroit diesel
Sounds like there may be water in the fuel.
