Is there any trick to removing the rollers? I removed the outer rock guard and the four bolts on the roller but there isn't enough play to drop the roller. Do I need to disassemble it in place?
Thanks, Roger

Re: 440 Roller Replacement
You have to pull both rockguards, it will bind on the other one if you don't.

Re: 440 Roller Replacement
Thanks Lavoy.
It's interesting that the service manual says that you only need to remove the outer rock guard...
I snapped off more than half of the bolts while removing the outer rock guard and had to re-tap them. And that is the easy one to get to.
I'm going to try to take the two large axle bolts off the roller while it's in place and see if the inside roller bracket will slide off and give enough room to pull it down.

Re: 440 Roller Replacement
Make sure yours does not have the bolts from the rock guards into the roller.
Usually the roller caps won't come off, plus one end is set screwed on as well.

Re: 440 Roller Replacement
Lavoy,
Thanks for the heads-up. The set screw and jam nut were sheared off and rusted over long ago on the roller that I'm replacing. My luck that the other four rollers on this same side all have their set screws and nuts. Oh well, I guess it's time to start removing the inside rock guard.
