ok Guys, here is question for y'all.
Insofar as my 2 cyl cap is made with 4 plug outlets w/2 plugged.
1. What four cyl cap is it and what would the cost be versus the 2 cyl plugged?
2. If cost the same why can we not use the 4 cyl cap and reverse the cap for a second life?
3. the other question i have, i noticed on mine that the points are actually opening as tho trying to fire at the other 2 plastic plugged pins.
would surely have to protect the 2 open but that would be easy fix.

Re: jd440ic.distr caps
Hi,
I don't know if there is a 4-cyl cap which fits. The thing is keyed. Is the keying different than anything else? Anyway, the keying prevents reversing. Not that it matters, the most wear occurs on the center contact. And, the main reason I have had to replace a cap is the thing cracks.
I don't recall any of mine having four lobes on the point cam. Maybe you have a different distributor?

Cap is indexed as Stan says. Correct cap will not have contacts in the other two terminals. Correct cap is readily available, I have them in stock.
