jd440ic distributor timing

Post by dtoots1 » Fri Jun 26, 2020 9:00 am

well folks..am having a question on my timing...it seems that my points are opening just after it goes past the wire. i have not moved the distributor since i bought it and has been running ok, points gap is at 22 thousandths and is open about 3/4 inch past the wire on the outside circumference of distributor.....i assume that i should turn the distributor to that area and see if it helps tho with my hearing am not sure of results. i assume the points would then open at the wire as i believe it is supposed to. do not have timing light.
