1010 steering clutch plate count

Post by roadburner » Tue Aug 04, 2020 9:38 pm

Does anybody know why the 1010 steering clutch plate counts differ? Early 1010 (ser 0-31000) uses 8 friction plates and 8 steels, while the newer 1010 (ser 31000-up) use 8 friction plates and only 7 steels. Do they use the same pressure plate?
What's the reasoning behind this?

Deere made a change, happens all the time across all the models.
