welp i ran my new 1010 dozer today moving rocks around .... amongst steering clutch problems on the right track, 1 st gear sounds like a fork in a blender
how do i tell if its a bent fork in the trans shifter mechanism or a destroyed 1-2 gear cluster
if i need to work on the trans or swap it out for a different one, what are compatible trans parts for similar models either tractor or dozer models
how hard is it to remove trans if it comes to this
yes i should have walked away before ploping down $6

Re: 1963 1010 loader crawler transmission problem
It is extremely unlikely it is a fork, but pull the top cover and you will be able to see the gear.
Nothing interchanges but another 1010 crawler from the same serial number range.

Re: 1963 1010 loader crawler transmission problem
STRANGE 1010 TRANNY story----The top right bolt had stripped out the housing threads and been replaced with a bolt and nut. Took me a while to figure out why it would jump out of 2nd gear but, found that the shifting fork was hitting the head of that bolt before it got fully into gear. I tried to tweak the fork to fully engage the gear but that only left me with the same problem on 3rd gear. I was able to remove enough of the bolt head to still keep it tight but, also enable the fork to fully engage the gear.
