According to Ron O'Neill, the Tractor Doctor, in the August issue of Green Magazine, you can use muriatic acid in radiators and even in engines using thermo-siphon cooling.

They do, we are thinking his crawler has had a 40 engine installed.

I take my nasty radiators to a radiator repair shop. They'll soak and flush or replace the core.

I’ll second Greg. It’s a pain to deal with a poorly working or leaking radiator. Getting one repaired and pressure tested means that you’ll have one less worry. If you reinstall yours, boil it with acid, and a leak develops, you’ll be back at square one. Good luck with what ever you decide.
