40C fluid level

Post by gregjo1948 » Mon Sep 14, 2020 3:14 am

Where is the oil check for the trans/diff on a 40C? I assume there is a plug to fill and check the fluid. Also are these 40s a positive ground 6 volt system? thanks, gregjo1948

Fill is under your right heel, drain in on the opposite side underneath.
Yes on positive ground.

Thanks Lavoy. I found it already. I just got this little guy home and it had a bunch of leaves bunched up around the fill plug. I haven't had a green dozer in years and forgot how simple they are. Even though it has 2 cylinders, it doesn't sound anything like my Harley.

Hi,

Nope. Not a Harley. ;)

JD is 2 cyl out of 4 when it comes to the firing. Harley is 2 cyl out of 5. Quite different sounds. :)

I have been told that Harley patented the sound/noise their 2 cylinder engines make.
