420C wont idle

Post by jdman123 » Thu Dec 28, 2006 6:47 pm

I am having problems with my TSX 641 carb on my 420c crawler. I took it off because it would not idle at all. I would adjust the air bleed screw and nothing would change. So I took it apart and soaked it for 2 days in parts cleaner. I ran a wire through all the ports in the top of the carb and blew air in the bottom. I don't think the port on the bowl is clear though. Their is two holes on the fuel bowl, one is for the idle jet. I cannot get air to come out the bottom, so I put it back on machine and it does the same it will cut completely off if you try to idle it down. How can i get this port clear because I cannot find where it comes out the bottom. Help!!!!

Did you soak it in a Stanosol type cleaner, or actual carb cleaning solution?

420c will not idle

Post by jdman123 » Fri Dec 29, 2006 8:07 am

It was soaked in a gallon bucket of gunk carb cleaner. I wonder if the nozzle is where it is stopped up. I have not been able to get it out, but I am going to try again. I have ran a wire down the hole on the bowl and it stops and will not go any further. Could the nozzle be turned in a way that the holes don't line up and cause no flow of gas?

If you mean the big center nozzle, there is no way to clean it without removing it. You can carefully grb it with a small Vise-grips where it sticks out and try and loosen it some so that you can remove it with a screwdriver.

Thanks for the tip Lavoy. I took or I say drilled the nozzle out yesterday and I could run a wire throught the port. I think that someone might have put the wrong one in the carb, because I so no rust on the inside.
Thanks for the help,
Shawn

Keep in mind that they are 4 more holes perpendicular to the bore that are likely plugged as well.

Thanks for the tip Lavoy. I finally got it drilled out and will be putting it back together this weekend.
