thermostat 40C
I played with my 40C a little and it doesn't warm up much. I installed a new temp gauge but I don't know where the thermostat is located. thanks, gregjo1948

Hi,
No thermostat. Thermosiphon system. No water pump, either.

Thanks for your reply Stan. So until I work the devil out of this little guy, I can't expect to see any temp rise on my gauge?

Re: thermostat 40C
Hi,
It will run cool until it doesn't. Make sure you have a proper radiator cap with a vent hole so the expanding coolant has someplace to come out when it gets hot. When it cools, add coolant. They don't work if they aren't full.
The M and the 40 are like this. With the advent of 20% greater power they got a water pump, thermostat, and a pressurized system. As in when the 40 turned into the 420. So, you have a fan, but there is no water pump behind it. Just a bracket.
If they were an all-fuel, they had shutters in front of the radiator. Not if they were Gas only, though. The shutters were to heat it up for the distillate or kerosene. If you don't have the second fuel tank for starting Gas, it is a Gas-only machine.
