2010

Post by tlock0331 » Mon Nov 09, 2020 8:47 am

So, i have searched and cant seem to find that actual SAE bellhousing size for the diesel 2010. So, i have access to a 3d printer and a buddy that is really good at CAD, and it had a standard package of SAE bellhousing sizes. The plan would be to choose a 4cylinder diesel, something common, and build a 3d adapter plate and test out the fit, etc etc, then when its correct, make the final one and finish out my 2010 crawler.

If anybody know the adapter size, or if anybody has any advice on the engine swap, i would be happy to listen, this is just round one. Thanks in advance.

Lavoy can likely answer for sure but I don't think there was an SAE bell housing for a 2010.

Jim is correct, it isn't SAE, it is proprietary. Deere didn't offer the engine to the aftermarket for any sort of power plant, so no need to to be SAE would be my assumption. That and that far back in the Ag world, don't think much af anything was SAE.

okay, so lets exit that initial question and go with part 2, any ideas on what engine would be a good fit for a swap? i am always measure and mock the housing, so that leaves me really open for what engine would work well for it.

Hi,

Yeah. The A in SAE stands for Automotive, so no one in the Ag or IC world would pay much attention to SAE. ;) Plus, you need a stressed block design. That rules out most truck engines. I would stick with a Deere 2010 engine myself. Lots of those out there.

There are plenty of them. Every 2010 diesel crawler and tractor had one, as well as stationery power units, combines, etc.
