430C 3 Point+blade

Post by tobaccofarmer » Sat Dec 05, 2020 9:28 am

Hey guys, was wondering the logistics in the situation where a 430/440 may have had factory 3 point but also equipped with a front dozer blade. Ive seen one with a position locking bar where the cylinder goes for 3 point, and the hydraulics were setup for blade. Were the intentions to swap cylinder for 3 point and then lock blade up or was there a diverter valve ever from factory? Is a Dual hydraulic valve supposed to be there to operate both setups together? I'M thinking if this is the case the factory single valve was originally on 3 point, no blade then blade was added and cylinder got moved for blade, leaving 3 point inoperable. Let me know what you think.

My 420C had a ATECO outside mount blade with manual angle and a factory 3 pt. The valve was a dual valve. One lever for the blade and one lever for the 3 pt.
Best regards, Bruce

Dual hyd was an option, diverter was not.
Yes, there were boom hangers for the #61 blade to take the cylinder off of the blade, but it would have primarily for towed hyd lift implements. Not that it wouldn't work for the 3 pt I guess.

good question tobaccofarmer. I have a 420C with #61 blade and single valve, I have acquired a 3 point (original crawler style) which I plan to add and will need a dual valve as well. Suggestions from the forum are certainly welcome

So its fair to say that a machine with both 3 point and blade , one of the two were added in field, most likely the blade . Do you have any dual valves Lavoy? what about the original style cylinder ? Thanks

Not enough left to complete one, sorry. I have a 420 coming in maybe Jan, but haven't seen it to know valve it has.
If factory is not a priority, Surplus Center might be able to get you a dual valve in a 1000psi. Most new valves will only go down to 1500psi or so.

has anyone installed a diverter valves to use the single valve with the blade and 3 point? I am planning my 3 point install and would like to keep the original valve and add a diverter. ( i know I need a "special" bracket to mount the valve lever to the rockshaft base.)

Blade quit working when I started disassembly of the crawler. Upper valve cylinder centering spring may be broken and lodged as the cylinder appears jammed in the inward direction Plan to rebuild the original valve. Are parts kits available?

Rebuilding the lower works, beginning reassembly of the front idlers and "eventually" will install the tracks Lavoy pinned and bushed for me over 18 months ago- Some projects seem to take a while!!

My 40C has a single factory valve. Someone added some gate valves on the outlets to control a towed shredder. I took them off and instead put an old forklift valve in series with that single valve, mounting it on the fender, to control a shop-built ripper. Only use one half of the forklift valve. Works fine despite the looks.

I have a 420 with a #62 blade and the factory 3 pt that I purchased as a take off from another machine.

I am using the the original factory valve with a switch valve to go switch between the blade and 3 pt.

I can put the valve about 1/2 and actually use the float function on the dozer blade and the ripper at the same time (though I have no idea when I'd use it), maybe with a blade on back too.

It works for me though if it was more than a hobby machine I think I would add a separate valve for the 3pt.

I put all new valves. 6 way blade and a 3pt, plus an auxiliary line should I need one for an implement. That's a 5 spool setup, all new. I've used every one of them.

Gus-where did you find a 1000psi relief valve plus a 3 position for float? Part of my thought to use the original with a selector valve is to get the float as well as blocked neutral position

My hydraulics are all after market. I do not have a float position on the valve. I tried to find an old post with photos showing it. There's a series when I was rebuilding the 420.

7 parts to the series. Search "it's coming together" by Gus and it will come up. I think the last 2 parts were "it's together"

I reposted one of the series in show and tell section.
