First timer And I need HELP. 4 spd tranny tear down, when I removed direction reverser the direct drive gear/shaft did not & will not come off the transmission input shaft. It is stuck tite. Has any one ever had this problem. Or does anyone have any idea of how to remove. Thanks.

It should go, there is nothing that holds it on. Only thing I can think if would be rust, and shouldn't be any of that. See if you can pry on both sides at once, apply some heat, but not too much, and see if that helps.

FYI-
There is a NOS reverser assembly for the 420 on EBay right now- didn't know if you needed one or not.
