I have recently acquired a 59 440IC. It has dealt me a few blows, but so far, no Knock Out punches.
My latest problem, under load, I hear bottom end noise and "bouncing" of my oil pressure. I am considering dropping the pan and have a go at an oil pump rebuild.....but.... I see in the service manual, I need a special tool to install the pump once I am done.
How and where could I find one??? (preferably in Canada as shipping across the closed border is an issue)
OR .....
Have the wise men on this forum come up with an alternative method for the install?

Re: 440IC Oil Pump Install
Welcome to the Board.
This thread should give you the info you need to install the oil pump without a tool.

Re: 440IC Oil Pump Install
Thanks for the link. I had found it in my search but was not clear on whether or on the tool was still required.
Will give this process a shot!

Re: 440IC Oil Pump Install
There are no oil pump parts available for rebuild. I would be much more concerned about bearings than the oil pump if you hear knocking.

Re: 440IC Oil Pump Install
I was afraid someone might suggest that but perhaps that is better news if oil pump parts aren't available.
Just in the middle of rebuilding the carb and then I think I will move it to a good spot for dropping the oil pan and having a look at the bottom end.
sigh
