440IC Roller Shaft & Bushings

Does anyone know if the make oversize (outside diameter) roller bushings
and what is the standard bore of the roller where the bushing goes?

The shaft is definately shot (has almost 3/8" wear on bottom side) but the bushing bore did not look that bad. The bushings were floating around in the center cavity so the roller was running directly against the shaft but the manual does not list the roller bore diameter for the bushing.

I can give you the bore diameter of the roller but it won't be for
a couple of days.I will have to punch the bushing out of a used roller.
How accurate of a measurement do you need?That may sound like a dumb question but the bushing is a press fit.If you plan on sleeving
your current roller to stock size then installing a new bushing I will
give you diameter to .001 of and inch.I am unaware of bushings in
any oversize but if you make new ones then bore the roller to clean it up
make bushings that will give about .002 of an inch press fit .
Unless this roller is good at the running surfaces I would junk it
and go for a better used one.Let me know what you plan to do
and I'll try to help you out.JimAnderson

I just need to check to see how worn the roller bores are, the roller is in good shape other than it had alot of play. I imagine that the bores are quite a bit oversize because the shaft had 3/8" of wear on the bottom side.
But I need the standard bore measurement to determine how bad.

Don,
Roller bore should be 2.184 inches.Odd number but I think it was
set up for 2.1875 OD bushing.That would give a .0035 press fit which
is right for that size range.JimAnderson

Thanks for the info! My roller bore is at 2.215" on both sides and my shaft measures 1.850" at the worn area's.

Do you have roller shafts and oversize bushings (OD) available or know a source for them?

I am out of shafts right not, I have one in for cost ananlysis as we speak, have not heard back yet. There are no oversize bushings, I suppose they used to just throw them away.
One thing I can think of is to bore the roller for 440 front idler bushings, and use a 440 front idler shaft. That may or may not be cheaper than boring and sleeving yours.
If all else fails, I have one used roller shell on hand.
