440icd tracks

Post by jobradovich » Thu Apr 29, 2021 8:52 pm

I’m working on getting my grandpas 440icd going but the tracks are shot. They’re worn through the bushings and into the pins. Does anyone know where I could find a new or less used set of tracks?

Nothing new avaialable other than conversion to 350 or Mitsubishi.
If your link height is okay, they just need to be rebushed, unfortunately no pins and bushings right now, but I am working on it.

I read that the sprocket has to be rerimmed to run 350 tracks. How would I go about this? Or would I need to given the sprockets have some wear as well.

Hi,

A machine shop can cut your old teeth off the sprockets leaving a hub to weld or bolt the new rim onto.

Correct, it will have to be rerimmed to run either 350 or Mitsubishi tracks. You will need a 350 sprocket to cut the rim off of, cut the rim off of your sprocket, and weld the 350 rim back on.
The question is what do you mean by shot? Pads are shot, pins and bushings are shot, links are shot, etc.

The bushings are worn clear through. I can see the pin inside. I’m assuming the pins are also worn out if the bushings have made it that far. I haven’t measured the links. The pads aren’t bad. I just tore the right final drive apart to rebuild it and found the tapered splines on the bull gear are chipped and worn bad so I’m gonna have to find another gear.

What does it take to switch to Mitsubishi tracks?

Basically the same as switching to 350 tracks. You need new Mitsubishi sprockets to cut the rims from. The Mitsubishi rims get welded to your sprockets after the rims are cut off your current sprockets. his post will give you a better idea. Pretty much the same for regular tracks with steel pads/grousers.

Price is basically the same, in the $4000-$5000 range by the time you are done.

Best to go deere as new and used are available. Last guy I know that did this drilled his 2 bolt pads to 4 bolt (using our jig) which saved him from buying pads.
