Hi,

The main thing is the generator would then power discharge the battery. The regulator would be putting too much current into the field coils. These are relay regulators, and the overcurrent thru the relay contacts is probably....bad.

stan,
so that would mean ..better check the battery? what would power drain do to the 6 volt battery?

Won't hurt the battery. Might have hurt the regulator.
