Idler adjusting tube

Post by Swanybawanie » Tue May 18, 2021 4:45 pm

Hello friends,
I have one idler adjusting tube that is locked good, won’t twist, won’t pull apart, took it to an industrial shop tried twisting it with a 36” pipe wrench, no go. All the screws are out of it, soaked in penetrating oil, it’s still at the shop, the guy that does the job is busy on a job and really hasn’t had a complete attention on it, he says he will. What do you suggest? Heat up the outer cylinder? The tube is locked in an almost complete extended position. Hope this helps, what do you think should be done to it?

I assume you mean a mechanical adjuster, not hyd? If so, throw it in a barrel of water for a couple weeks, but even then, doubt it will go.
