Hydraulic blade lift

Post by Swanybawanie » Fri Aug 27, 2021 7:50 am

Good morning friends,
Last night I tried the blade lift, it goes up and it slowly goes down. Do I need to run it more then it Will it eventually stop? Or there’s a leak in the system?

You can try running it up and down a few time to see if any air is in the system. Chances are the one or more seals in the cylinders are leaking. I ended up replacing both cylinders, even though I think only one was bad. After I put on the new ones, the blade stayed up for a week.

Often just repacking the cylinders takes care of that. Just have to determine the model of your blade and the cylinders on it. I think there were some changes in types of cylinders during the 440IC years. Lavoy will likely have, or be able to get, packings for you once the cylinder is identified.

There was no blade on the frame when the frame was inching down, but when we hooked up the blade and added weight it doesn’t inch it’s way down, it stayed in place. Must be the weight that causes it to stay put. Can anyone explain?

With that info it may have been there was air in the system as Buckhorn posted, or the valve spool didn't quite center. Likely best to run it some and see how it does.
