Timing light
I can't find too much info in my service book about timing , I've never heard of a timing light for 2 cylinders , can I use one made for 4 cylinder engines ?
Re: Timing light
Timing lights are not cylinder specific, they only read off of one pulse, so it will work fine. Most likely you have a 12 volt timing light, so you will need to hook it to a 12 volt battery while timing.
Clip the pulse sensor to the #1 plug wire (cylinder #1 is closest to the radiator, just trace the wire back). Run the engine at full rpm, set the distributor till you see the work "SPARK" in the timing window and you are good to go.

Re: Timing light
Thank you Lavoy , I've switched mine over to 12 volt so I can go buy a timing light now , I appreciate the info.
Re: Timing light
Some of the new timing lights have an RPM function. This can be handy for setting slow idle RPM, and fast idle RPM.
I think this is the one I have.
