looking for 420 and 1010 crawler info

Post by 5speed » Tue Oct 19, 2021 11:08 am

I have a good friend that has a 420 he is rebuilding. It has the greenville steel car loader on it set up for a ripper.
He bought a massey ripper with plans to modify it to work on the 420.
he isn't computer / internet savy so this is where I come in. lol
I found a few pictures online of a 420 with the ripper but you can't see the mounts very well.
I was wondering if anyone had one on their 420 they could take pics of..or an exploded oem diagram.

He also has a 1010 he is rebuilding. He has a service manual for it but it doesn't include any info on the updated final drive. His is a 63. serial # is 33534.
I found a service manual online but the serial #'s they have listed make no sense. Serial Number: 001001-031000, 042001-, 021901-

I also found the jennsales one but it doesn't mention the later model ones.
wondering if anyone has one and knows if it covers the later design final drive?

The Deere service manual should cover all years of the 1010. Possibly he has an original manual that does not have the revisions. Look at the bottom of the page and it should have the revision date after the manual number. You just need a later revision manual, but most of the manuals out there will be the later date.

His manual shows the upgraded part of the final drive but it doesn't have the info in regards to shimming it.
