fork lift for a 420

Post by Charles » Wed Jan 17, 2007 5:25 pm

Lavoy do you think a 420 will be able to handle a fork lift mast?I just got a lift with a bad motor and it would be nice to put it on my other 420C. I don't want to go through the trouble mounting it if it isn't worth it. Thanks

Harlo made a forklift attachment for 420-440. Keep clicking on the pic on the upper LH side of this page, and you will see what it looks like. They were rated at 4000lbs at 24" to 14', 2000lbs to 21' if you had the 3 stage mast. Main thing to overcome will be the mounting system. The Harlo setup is quite substantial with two large frame members that run the full length of the crawler.
Another alternative would be to put it on the back of the crawler. Case did this on a forklift called an MB3, and then reversed the seat so you face the mast.

I have a 90 loader on my 420. Welded on some pins to the rock bucket and mounted some forks...works great.
