1010 or mc
1010 or mc
I already have a 450c so now want a little toy for my woods for firewood only, maybe pushing a log, maybe to pull a snagged tree, but no real work. Found a 1010 gas local . I prefer a gas engine for the winter. How do they compare to the MC for parts ? What about wt difference. Straight blade is fine by me. The 1010 has a winch. Thanks
Re: 1010 or mc
1010 is no comparison better as a user than an MC. MC is better parts availability for the most part.

Re: 1010 or mc
Lovoy, will a 1010 gas then be a nice toy for what I described ? I just don't want to get an older machine and then have to part it out. Pretty mechanically inclined .
Re: 1010 or mc
1010 will pull way more than you think, so would an MC as far as that goes.

Re: 1010 or mc
You skipped right over the 40, 420, 430, and 440's. Any reason? A 430 or 440IC may have the wet clutch reverser (a few late 420 had it as well). They will be a bit smaller than a 1010.

Plus, 40-440 will have overall better parts availability, I should have mentioned them, thanks Jim for thinking of it.

Re: 1010 or mc
Got a chance to buy a couple of 1010 gas. I can park next to my woodlot and keep tarped. Too far to keep driving across field. Guy says undercarriage is 70%. So what might I have issue with in parts ? Are clutches easy to do on it ? Also has a winch but not working. Are they rebuildable still ? That would really be an asset when cutting a leanig tree over my swamp, I could attach and pull as cutting and keep tree dry.
Re: 1010 or mc
Clutches are normally not an issue, I usually have everything on hand. Depends on which winch, but probably yes, but winches are expensive to rebuild.
Engine parts are expensive to non-existent, trans parts are just plain hard to find.
