1010 Reverser

Post by 1stack1dr » Sun Feb 27, 2022 6:56 pm

I have a 1962 JD 1010C gas serial #23932 The problem I’m having, the reverser doesn’t come up to pressure when the engine is started. It will not move forward or reverse. It takes different lengths of time for the pressure in the reverser to build up for it to run, then it operates as it should. The pressures have been checked by the book and are correct. The oil and filter was just changed. The old oil was clean no metal. Any help as to why it takes so long for the oil pressure to come up would be appreciated. What type of fluid do you use in the Reverser. The book says 5W 20 oil. I live in Virginia. Thanks

Here’s my update. After talking to Lavoy found out I installed the wrong oil. After correcting that reverser pressure comes right up.
Then the next problem, pulling one steer lever the crawler stops . I was told the opposite clutch was bad. I can put up with that for awhile. So installed belly pan and floor pans went to park it in the shed 10’ to go and the water pump went out and took the radiator with it. I understand why we love these crawlers so much. Thanks Lavoy for the help . Red

Glad to hear that it fixed it, I love simple fixes, I just never seem to have them on my stuff!

Hi,

Wait. What? There was some fix that was easy and simple? (!)

It's Party Time!

Of course, I notice the water pump bearing sent the fan thru the radiator just after.....

But, still. Something was easy to fix on Old Iron! Whoot!

Only easy fix I've done: crawler just flat out quit running after a few coughs and jerks.... The fix? Put some gas in and it started right up. Very easy fix not counting having to walk to get gas
