This is somewhat off topic but here goes. I am working on a 1942 Caterpillar R2 with electric start and generator. Caterpillar still offers the fan belt, but no longer sees fit to have a belt for the generator.
The Cat # is 5B 243. 1 1/16 X 38.5
I was wondering if this would cross to anything you would use. or if anybody had a source to go to for "classic" belts.
I also have a 40C that I will be working on steering clutches on latter, so probably not the last time to be here.
fan belt help
Re: fan belt help
There is a lot of knowledge on this site, so someone may have had this same issue. I checked Gates and they recognize the CAT number, but using the interchange to a Gates belt, says no replacement.

Re: fan belt help
Thanks Jim, I am aware of ACMOC, been a member many years. Found a "will work" belt at NAPA. Appreciate the quick response .
