1965 JD 2010 diesel water pump

Post by lounsbmw » Thu Aug 11, 2022 5:45 pm

I am looking for a replacement water pump for a 1965 2010 diesel crawler. The casting numbers that are on the original one that I removed are T577T, T16849T, and T18820T. The websites that have a replacement for those casting numbers all seem to be out of stock. There are many replacements in stock that would replace casting numbers AT11918, R12712, T12712, but also say that they won't fit crawlers. Would anyone know what the differences are between I assume the wheel tractor water pump (AT11918) and the crawler water pump (R18802)? I would just buy a rebuild kit for the one I have, except the bore for the bearing seems to be really loose for the outside race of the shaft bearing. Thank you for any suggestions, ideas, answers.

Do the 2010 wheel tractor engines rotate the opposite direction of a 2010 crawler? If so, that would explain why a water pump from a wheel tractor won't work on a crawler.

Engine rotation should be the same. Likely a difference in fan height, how the hose connection is angled or such due to differences in how the engines have to mount in the machines.

Two different pumps, they don't interchange, crawler has another port I believe. Nothing new available for the crawler, R & R only unfortunately.

Is anyone on here a parts dealer for AG Parts
LTD? They are a parts wholesaler in Humboldt, Iowa that only sells parts to tractor/tractor parts dealers. They advertise the pump I need but I haven't found a local parts dealer that has an account with them.

I am, but I doubt that they have any cores on hand. Usually on those, they are R & R only. I can check if you want.

Could you check? If they don't have a core is anyone aware of a parts dismantling yard that may have older 2010 parts where I could get a good core? I talked to Farmer John in Georgia. He sent one from a 2010 diesel crawler that he was dismantling, but it turned out to be the same as a tractor water pump. Thank you.

Would anyone have a line on a crawler recycling yard in the US that might have a good selection of 2010 parts? Thank you.
