FYI: HEADS UP ON ROLLER/IDLER SEALS

Post by Lavoy » Wed Jun 01, 2005 4:53 pm

Just a heads up for everyone about the bottom roller, front idler seals for 40-1010 except front idler on 440/1010.
If any of you have priced the seals for these, you know they are ungodly pricey, to the tune of $46/each and up. Well lo and behold, there has been a price reduction, a MAJOR one. I spent a couple hours on the phone today trying to get to the bottom of this, but it looks like the new price on these seals is going to be $15 or less depending on your dealer. I have some on order, and should know tomorrow if it is true. My fear is that they have subsitituted a part that will not even remotely work, so at this point I am not really believing it. I have a couple of NOS seals to compare them to when they get here, so we'll see.
I will keep you informed of what I find, but if this is true, you better get some before they go back up, I just can not see this lasting.
Cross your fingers,
Lavoy

Hey lavoy ,

I have been watching the jd parts web site and in the last week the prices have dropped on the seals and bushings for the front idlers for a 440

I ordered 2 new front Idlers just to see what would happen , they called me today and said all the parts are in !

I will be suprised if this works out

I had checked 440 bushings and seals not that long ago, and had not seen any price change, will have to check again.

Got my seals today, and they are the correct ones. I still doubt that this will last long, but for now it is great. I have 10 coming if anybody needs some.

OTC track press

Post by Rich » Fri Jun 03, 2005 6:32 am

Hi Lavoy,
I got a copy of the current OTC catalog.
I wanted to look for the OTC Track Master 60 ton track press you
mentioned owning in one of your previous posts I can't seem to locate
it in the catalog. Any info woulb be most appreciated.
Also I'm guessing that the front idlers require 2 seals 1 inner and 1 outer?
I'd like to procure the required number of seals to rebuild/re-bush both
left and right idlers. Please Advise.
Have you ever attempted to rebuild the Track Rollers?
See You at the 2 cylinder show for those grousers.

Thanks and Take Care!
Rich

Rich,
OTC sold the Trackmaster line to another company a long time ago. Probably the smallest press they make now is 225 tons, set you back about $50,000 not including the tooling.
You use 2 seals per idler or roller. I have more seals coming, will be here early next week.

JD 420C Idler Seals

Post by Rich » Tue Jun 14, 2005 4:53 am

Good Morning Lavoy,
Just a note to inquire regarding the Idler seals for the 420C.
Did the replacement seals show up as yet?

I'll take 4 if possible.

TNX, Rich

Is this the AM2011T seals? My local Dealer in NC has them for 11.99. Amazing.

Yes it is the AM2011T, kind of hard to believe isn't it.
Yes I did get 10 in stock, if you need any, let me know.
