Bucket level indicator
Bucket level indicator
First off, another big THANK YOU!!! to Gus! You were dead right on my air sucking hydraulic pump on my 1010 C/L/BH being nothing more than a clogged hydraulic filter. I'm going to order a couple more just to have on had because the filter I replaced only had 3-4 hours run time on it. Could be the system had a mess of trash in it from a previous owner. Thanks again!
Anyhoo, I have never seen what a bucket level indicator looks likes for the front bucket on a 1010. I see the parts in the diagrams, but I've never seen a picture of the unit on the machine. The old girl is running good and I'm moving a lot of dirt with it now, so I got wondering about using an indicator instead of my Mod 1 V62 eyeball. Is it worth rigging up some sort of level indicator for the bucket or is the consensus to just eyeball it and wait to gain experience? It's not like I'm trying to final grade a runway or anything, but I'd prefer not to go lower than intended if I can help it. Most of what I've got lined up is loading out of a pit or rock work, but I've got some farm roadwork to do and avoiding building new low spots is a goal. Any thoughts kindly appreciated.

Re: Bucket level indicator
I really like my buckle level indicator. I have a 450C. Using it all the time, it would be a worth while improvement.
Best regards,
Bruce

Thanks Bruce! Anyone have a picture of what these things look like when mounted?

Re: Bucket level indicator
You can find some views of the factory one and at least one homemade one by searching 1010 crawler loader and checking out the videos.
You can find an Operator's manual for the 1010 loader, you can download, at the John Deere Ag Publications store https://techpubs.deere.com/. Use the Equipment Publications tab and search 1010. Look at the loaders - base unit and the one for the crawler one is the first choice I see. It has a bit of info on the level indicator.

Re: Bucket level indicator
Happy to hear it worked. It's nice when a problem is actually a "cheap fix" as opposed to a tear down.
Re: Bucket level indicator
Thanks again Gus!
Jim B, I went out and looked at the 2 op manuals I have, both are for the agriculture version. No wonder I'd never seen it! Thanks for the info, I'll see what I can do.
