420c starting problems

Post by Turkeyeyes25 » Sun Dec 18, 2022 2:38 pm

Long story short crawler wouldn't start, changed plugs wires cap rotor points and condenser. Fired right up. Ran well for an hour then died. Rebuilt carb as it was traced down to a fuel issue. Now I can't get it to idle or even stay firing for more than 3 seconds and it has to be full choke. Puffs black smoke fires couple times and dies. Tried adjusting float levels up higher and still nothing. Will mention it only ran before with choke 1/4 closed. Anyone have any ideas? I gave up and purchased a new carburetor completely but waiting on shipping.

Cleaned the little screen where the fuel line attaches to the carb? Mine was nearly plugged.

Venturi in upside down?

Did you use top cleaners, or such, to run into all the ports as part of the rebuild?

What all did you do for the carb rebuild?
