440 rear cam plug

Post by smitty906 » Fri Jan 06, 2023 9:40 pm

So i finally have rebuilt engine running and seem to have a leak at rear cam frost plug which i replaced once from deere at 44$
i Used bearing set on plug and cannot figure out why i am having issues , seems when i installed plug it was a tight fit but once plug was in bore it got a little loose. Anyone have ideas or sealer ideas or alternative methods for a leak free plug ...
This thing seems to have a curse that i cannot break ...lol

The new rear cam plugs are too loose i think. My machine shop uses silicone, I would be more inclined to use Right Stuff.

Thanks Lavoy
I used the right stuff and stuffed plug in
Then smeared some epoxy around plug where it meets with bore in block.
Let harden overnight
Just fired up and appears to be leak free for now !
Now to figure out trans
Tractor will not move in 1st 2nd and fifth.
Fine in 3rd and 4th.
I'm guessing I didn't have everything aligned perfect when I installed shift forks .
