DOES THE STEERING THROWOUT BEARING HAVE TO BE PRESSED ONTO THE CARRIER.
THE CARRIER THAT I HAVE SEEMS TO HAVE THE 1/8 INCH RIDGE WORN DOWN, IS THAT POSSIBLE.
IF IT IS NOT PRESSED ON WILL THAT CAUSE A PROBLEM SINCE THE CLUTCH FINGERS ARE IN CONTACT WITH IT AT ALL TIMES.
THANKS FOR ANY THOUGHTS AND HELP
THROW OUT BEARING
Re: THROW OUT BEARING
The throwout bearing should be pressed on the collar so it pulls away from the pressure plate fingers when the steering handle is released, and the clutch is engaged. If it is just floating around it could cock out of true and cause the steering engagement to vary, besides continuing to wear the collar away. Adjustment will be difficult if you can't be sure the bearing is always seated. Lavoy may have the parts you need. He prefers people contact him directly, not via a post or the PM system.
