1010 diesel will not throtle up and dies

Post by Benincasatrucking » Mon Apr 03, 2023 8:09 am

Hi everyone new hear going to be a ling post to get as much details as i can. I have a 1010 diesel loader that i have had for a few months. My problem started after about 30min of running pretty hard tractor started smoking white and lossing power. Thought i had blown a head gasket but engine was not overheating. I found water in the fuel seperator so i drained fuel tank and replaced both fuel filters. Ran tactor for about an hr under light throttle no problems. I throttled up to do some heavier work and after about 30min same thing white smoke lossing power and engine stalling. I changes fuel filters again on a different day just in case there was some residual water still in tank. Same thing after 30min but i tried the fuel primer and engine would clear up and run great till it burn the fuel up and start sputtering and stalling out. Now tractor will run fine untill you give it any throttle and it stalls out withbout giving it any extra fuel. So i definitely thinks its a fuel problem does it sound like a injection pump or is there a lift pump or is there something elts i need to try or test

It may be the dampener ring in the injection pump failing.
Remove the fitting on the pump for the return line there is a small clear check valve ball in the fitting. If it is plugged with small black chunks the dampener ring is failing. Search on this site for “mouse turds”

Your problem could still be water in the fuel. Check your filters again for water. Most of the time “draining the tank” will not get all the fuel or water out of it.
