Carco C12 winch.

Well another 440ICD followed me home last week, it has engine trouble so I don’t have it running yet. The dozer has a Carco C12 winch that the previous owner says doesn’t work. I have found a lot of references to the C12 on Case dozers but none on John Deere 440’s. Does anyone here have any experience with a Carco C12. When I do get the engine running I hope to be able to get the winch working also. I ordered a parts manual for a Case C12. I haven’t found a repair manual. Haven’t seen much for parts availability ether.

You may already have this info. Carco is part of the Paccar Winch group. They have some literature for download on their site in the service area I believe. For an older winch you could try contacting them as they might have something just not on the web for viewing.

I did find the Paccar site when I was looking for info on a Gearmatic 8a winch. I looked thru it again and don’t see the Carco C12 or the Gearmatic 8a listed. I will take you advise and contact them.

My 40c has a Carco C3 that appears to be factory. However, the manual I have for it shows a Case crawler mount. Not sure how similar they are to the C12.

The C3 and C12 are similar but different. The C3 has manual controls and the C12 has hydraulic controls
Best I can find out the C3 came first then the C12 and then the CG12 which looks like a C12 with manual controls.
