It's pretty obvious that these machines were made for a smaller generation! At 6', long legs, big feet, I'm a bit cramped. It's more obvious if the operation requires a lot of movement, like loader or dozer as opposed to farming operations like plowing or discing.
I raised the seat and moved it back slightly when I put the 3pt on. That helped considerably.
Anyone else have the problem or a good solution?

Gus,
Mite want to include....which model machine ya got!!...If seen my posts I do have a 420 loader and do agree....however my seat arrangement is total scrapped...so am having to start from scratch and build my own...mock up shows must raise above tranny and levers and looks like trial and error time...my 440 had better access and could work ok.. with the big boxy seat but i sure do not want that on this one....I feel need an escape route outa there when needed....possibly locked down flip seat with flip arm rests or none....

Re: Size
I have a couple of 420's. You can't just raise the seat. At least that's what I've found. You need both up and back to keep the "working angle" towards the pedals.
Re: Size
The seat that came on mine dont work either,--needs to be farther back for me. I am 6' and 190 so need a LOT more leg room. Going to try a smaller flatter seat on mine,--maybe an old Allis steel pan seat with the back on it.

Gus,
i found a volunteer seat...came from a Honda Pilot..front passengerseat..has wiring for heated seat if i change over to 12 volt...large seat cushion..imitation leather..adjustable and lean back and folds to front a bit...seems a bit high as yet..used base mount out of old jd40 dozer with flat plate on it...do have another 1.5 inch mount i can take off the pilot mounting if need be...once i get er mounted up i will try to get pics uploaded...course loader aint ready to fire as engine etc aint in so just dry run for now...nice thing is back far enough to give access to steering adjustments! seems to be like 6 inchs to move for adjustment..probably drop pics in my posts....not sure i like my fanny hanging over rear of machine though and wonder how will work with scarifier hooked up????

Re: Size
Given the simplicity of the attachment point for the seat frame, I'm surprised that more people don't opt to put in a universal tractor seat bolted onto some treated plywood in lieu of the OEM; maybe even spring for a suspension seat... pun intended.
Re: Size
My seat is moved back. I would not use any wood, steel only. And with a foolproof attachment and rear stop on the slide adjustment!
My butt is hanging out, there right over a nasty rotary brush cutter. Anything that might break or fail is not an option.
