Question About Log Pole Attachment

Post by Tigerhaze » Wed Feb 07, 2007 3:16 pm

Hi guys-

There is a 1010 dozer on E-bay right now that has what they call a "log pole" attachment on it for logging. Can someone explain to me how it would be used and whether it was a factory attachment? Thanks in advance- I have provided the pics of it below:

never seen anything like that am wondering if they run a cable through it somehow and with down pressure of the blade pick up the front of the log to make it skid easier. I doubt that would be it but don't know what else it would be for. I'm sure if there is a good explanation for it Lavoy will know.

The crawler has a winch on it, and there is a pulley block on the end of the pole. My guess is that it is for uplift when skidding logs, but I question whether the canopy is strong enough for that.

If that is the case, I don't know that I would want to be in the seat when the first log was lifted!

logging arch

Post by tdt9630b » Sat Feb 10, 2007 11:38 am

hello all- regarding the strength of the logging arch ,having owned a 420c with the same arch for over 20 years, it is strong enough to lift the front of the machine and still drag a log. Used it last summer for winching trees out of a brook-had to chain the blade to a tree to keep it on the ground
