My Dad gave me this cat, I don't know much about it except he nursed it along as the previous owners ran it like it was a D-6, meaning it's not in the best of shape. My question is, I can't seem to find the reservoir or filler for the blade.

Well Blackdirt,

Welcome to the world of EXPENSE..If you are talking of a JD440 crawler it helps to identify what you have. I assume it is a crawler/dozer,
these things are pretty nice...once they are all mechanicaly functioning properly.

To answer your question...if it is a jd440....they usually have a reservoir on the right of your foot and forward when in the driver seat...it should have a tube with a cap on it....Hydraulic fluid can be 10 weight or 20 weight during summer months, usually the cylinder seals are found to be needing replaced if you find leaks..

Lets get a little more info...also when logging in...access your profile and let us know whereabouts you are located.

440IC gas or 440ICD diesel? I have both and the hydraulic tank is in the front by the radiator. Look for 2 flip up covers on the front of the hood. One is for the radiator the other for the hydraulic tank. This would be for a crawler.
