1010 fuel gauge ground

Post by Gclark » Fri Nov 24, 2023 4:49 pm

I am trying to get the fuel gauge working on my 1010. I think there should be a ground from the sending unit to the tractor frame, but mine is missing. Can anyone send a picture of how the ground was originally installed?

Thanks.

I don't think there was a ground wire and none show as part of the harness in the parts catalog. If you want to add a ground just use one of the sending unit's mounting screws to put one end of a wire under and run the other end to a frame location of your choosing.

Thanks for the reply.

The reason I asked about the ground was I can’t figure out how the sending unit will work without a ground connection since the tank seems to be isolated from the tractor frame by the rubber tank mounts.

Any thoughts on that?

Steel fuel lines and fittings form a ground.

I hadn’t thought of that!

Thanks.
