Hi guys,
Would anybody know what track sizes were used on the early 1953 40c's?

Thanks

10, 12, and 14" of various types. Parts manual shows them all.

The only parts book i have seen for the 40 series was for the later tractors (54/55).Were the track sizes the same on both early and later 40c's?

Here is a link to the online parts catalog on the JD parts site. Looks like it covers them, starts with serial number 60001 (beginning in 1953).

That still only shows the later 40c crawler parts

What are you looking for serial numberwise? The FAQ section here gives 60001 as the first serial number for the 1953 crawlers (3 rollers) and track parts are shown in that parts catalog for that serial number and after. Somethings, like track shoes, are mixed in the lists with the later crawlers but it looks using the serial number range for the crawler will get the right part numbers and quantities. May be I am missing something.

All 40 track pads are the same regardless of serial number.

I agree on the track pads. They are all on the same page with varying quantities based on the number track rollers. Sorry, I wasn't clear in mentioning the serial numbers; my serial number comment was in regard to Canuck 420C saying only the later crawlers were covered in the parts catalog. It appears to me the early crawler parts are covered in PC862, if serial number ranges are followed when given, such as for the 3 roller track frames (s/n 60001 - 62263).

#1000 tool carrier, you will see #61 blades on them, but really poor application, hard on undercarriage, and a host of jobber blades.
