Tach coupling gear JD 440 IC

Post by JD440ICD2006 » Thu Feb 22, 2007 1:12 pm

The gear (fiber) on my tach coupling (AM 3130T) is busted. Can I get new gear and press it on? Who has them?

The gear was not listed as a replacement part, you had to order the whole unit. Unfortunately it is obsolete, so only availalbe will be used.

Lavoy,

I was afraid that was the case. Got any of these units with usable gears still on them?
BTW, the gasket is still available from JD. Wouldn't you know the part that I do not need is still available at a reasonable price after almost 50 years. Kinda refutes the reason they give for high prices, doesn't it?

Availability of parts for these old crawlers is pretty frustrating, as I am quickly learning for my 1960s vintage 2010. I think Deere is one of the better brands when it comes to parts availability for vintage crawlers.

However, I have a Melroe (Bobcat) made in 1962 and almost every part for it is still available so it goes to show that it depends on the manufacturer's desire to supply the parts market.
