John Deere 1010 crawler trying to figure out year

Hi, thanks for the add! I have a 1010 crawler. I am not sure of the year or what the serial number would be, I am looking on getting some help trying to figure out what it could possibly be? The left side final drive locked up on me so I am trying to find a rebuild barring kit for it

The serial number tag should be on the right side of the engine block.

I had the same problem - no tags. The best I could do was narrow down the serial number range by some of the design differences. For example, shifter moved from dash to floor at s/n 21900, Hydraulic control levers moved to a box on RH Fender at 31000 & Reverser oil filter cover plate changed from 1 piece to 2 at 42000. Check the parts manual for details. Once you have the serial number narrowed down to a range, you can make a best guess for year.
