Backhoe on 420??

Post by ggfossen » Sun Jun 05, 2005 7:44 pm

I have an old 70+4 Case Davis trencher with a backhoe. Anybody ever see a hoe like that mounted on the back of a 420? Or would it be too heavy? It might make a good combination for my projects.

Yes, There was one at a local antique machinery show last year. It also had a loader along with the backhoe....It looked like way too much for the poor 420   ....can't say as I would recomend such a setup. I have some pictures I took, not sure how to post here but if you'll send me your e-mail I will forward. Roger B.

Roger,

I do have to wonder if it might be too much stuff on the back of the little 420. I suppose it may depend on just how far it ends up extended behind the machine. I'm also not sure about the strength of the attachment points. Much to consider, but it's an interesting idea, I think. The trencher is pretty much sacked out, and impossible on any slope at all.
