Steering Shaft Help!

Post by Stretch » Sat Mar 10, 2007 5:21 pm

Any ideas on how to get the steering shaft out? I have a 2010c late model.
Everything come apart fine until I got to the steering shaft. I think it my be rusted to the hub. I have soaked it in Kroil and PB blaster. Won't budge.
Thanks in advance, Stretch

This may sound funny but my Dad now 90 as of Saturday, used to use heat on the shaft untill the hub started to heat up real well and then hold an ice cube (large) on the shaft to cause it to shrink faster than the hub. It seemed to work for him.... he always said it worked on the heavy stuff lol. might give it a try.....

Thanks for the info, I will give that a try. I was a little concerned about putting heat to the hub and shaft because of the oil seal for the ring gear, but I guess I can deal with that. I will let you know if it works.
Thanks again to everybody for the info.
