1010 oil pressure gauge

Post by olrobk » Sun Apr 22, 2007 8:52 pm

I think it’s the weirdest thing that neither of my 1010’s has an oil pressure gauge. They have idiot lights. Doesn’t everybody in this group want an oil pressure, ammeter and temperature gauge????

That does seem odd, everything from old welders to old trucks always seems to have an oil gauge, are you sure someone has not altered it . Is there a place in the dash for a gauge?

My 2010 also has an "idiot light" for the engine oil pressure.

i dont think the 1010/2010 came from the factory with oil pressure gauges or amp gauges, just idiot lights. my dad and i have owned quite a few 1010s and 2010s and none of them had oil or amp gauges.

I have original Deere manuals for a 1010 so I thought I would check them to see. They are not showing an oil gauge, just a so called Tel-Light. The only gauges shown on the dash are water temp and fuel. I have a 1010 and had another in the past and both had oil gauges. I guess someone must have added them. Just goes to show, never assume.

As a follow-up on my gauges question, I ran my 1010 for a couple of hours without any gauges and couldn't take it anymore. I ordered mechanical oil pressure, water temp and ammeter gauges from Yesterday's Tractor "store" and put them in the dash. Water temp already had a spot there. I threw out the fuel guage and put oil pressure in there. I bored a 2 1/16 hole in the cover plate next to the hand throttle and put the ammeter in there. Does anyone ever worry about reverser oil temperature? Does that idiot light on the dash measure temp or pressure?
