Hydraulic cylinder repair

Post by carolina crawler » Wed May 16, 2007 1:05 pm

Hello friends in crawler land......are complete repair/rebuild kits avail for most of the older JD Hydraulics?....Yes, another task is locating rebuild kits for all 4 of my cylinders for my 440 crawler loader.all the shafts are almost perfect with no pits or rust...but one bucket cylinder leaks pretty good, others dry, but want to freshen up all of them...looks pretty easy to do?.....any thoughts?......Cc

I got all of the parts I needed at a local hydraulic repair shop. Very reasonable price also. I dismantled the cylinder and took them with me so we could measure everything. They had all I needed on the shelf.

If at first you don't succeed, get a bigger hammer.

I found cylinder rebuild kits at the local JD Industrial Dealer, Van Lott. The cylinders are not hard to rebuild if you have common shop tools. Just pay very close attention to how everything comes out, and verify it with a JD parts list.
