1010 Steering Disks

Post by GraderDan » Sat Jun 25, 2005 5:00 pm

Lavoy, pulled the final drives today, the left side had started to leak gear oil a little bit, but not enough to get into anything, but the right side is another story, the brake lining is completely gone and it is soaked with gear oil inside there, guess we know why the right side started to slip. Do you stock steering disks and linings for the brake? Have already got the seals for the powershaft and the final drives.
Also am having trouble gettin the ring gear hub out, they don't give you much room to work with in there. Have backed the powershaft out as far as it it will go, do you also have to loosen the pinon gear too ?
Thanks, Dan

I have the clutch discs and pressure plates on hand. I no longer have linings for the brake band, just new complete bands.
I thought that dropping the shaft down would give enough room. Pinion shaft should not help any I don't think. I have seen guys cut the PTO drive shaft, but then you can never have PTO, kind of a quick fix if you have no other options.
