New Generation Gauges

Post by wwattson » Wed Jun 27, 2007 8:48 am

Are there any good options for gauges for a 1010 that restores the look of the original Deere gauges? My Tach is going to be workable but the Temp and Fuel gauges are both shot.

Bill,
I have not checked lately, but I got 1010 gauges from Deere.

It's getting a little tougher. Both of the fuel gauges appear to be no longer available and only the very late model temperature gauge is available.

The other thing I've notice over the last couple of weeks is that the number of older parts that hit on the jdparts.com site has begun a rapid decline. There were a number of parts I was carrying in my "Wish List" on the site that have either flipped over to price unavailable or if you click on the part number link they come up with the invalid part number message. Not looking too good.

The gauges themselves are nothing remarkable and none had the Deere name or logo as best I can tell from the photos and drawings. Both are about 60 degree swing 2" gauges. Seems like there should be something out there pretty close.

I think I just ended up finding my own answer on this one. It looks like the Stewart Warner Standard gauge series matches the original equipment Deere gauges the closest. The swing, scales, markings, and size are all pretty close. It a shame that they're sealed units but I'm sure that you could get them repainted to match the originals by somebody that restores gauges.

Stewart Warner and Rochester made/make a lot of gauges for Deere. Jerry Tricka at Evergreen Restorations has new faces on new gauges for the two cylinder stuff, he may be able to do them for the new gen as well.

Bought all my replacement gauges for my 440 from Stewart Warner. Search their site and you should be able to find most anything. They have both positive and negative ground gauges.
