I'm making some repairs to my 420( the belly pan/ grill guard ripped off and took out the radiator and fan). Ouch! Decided to stop all off the little oil leaks as long as I'm working on it. The machine has a Henry loader with a pump mounted on the front of the crankshaft. The supply line to the pump has a 4 inch diameter by 16 inch long tube with a fitting on one end and a cap with a fitting on the other end. I pulled the cap off and pulled out the filter. The filter element appears to be a 14 inch long stack of paper thin discs bonded together. The element is about 2 inches on the O.D. and 1 1/2 inches I.D. I saw something similar once before but can't remember where. ( I've seen a lot in the last half century and don't remember most of it.) Is this filter worth trying to save or should I adapt something else? Any suggestions are appreciated.
P.S. Lavoy, the new radiator is beautiful and that 6 blade fan really moves some air. Thanks for your help.
Hydraulic system filter - need suggestions
I would try someone like Baldwin Filters ( www.baldwinfilters.com ) If there is a store in your vicinity that sells them you could go look in their catalog and might find a direct replacement. I am using a Balcwin dry paper filter for the air cleaner on my 440ICD. It and a piece of exhaust pipe was a lot cheaper than any used oil bath filter I could find.
