Camshaft Plug

Post by Magoo1 » Tue Jul 24, 2007 6:07 pm

My 420 block had the wrong plug with a lot of "glue" all around. I purchased the correct plug form Deere ($14.95) and now it leaks. I have removed the plug and was thinking about using JB Weld when I put it back in.

Please give me your ideas.

Thanks,

Magoo

Normally they should seal up with just some Form-a-Gasket. If the plug does not fit tight, you may need to swage it a little bit to get it tighter.

Mine leaked on my MC. Installed new one and sealed around edge
with JB weld for a little insurance. Don't know if it helped but it
hasn't leaked anymore. I'd pulled the engine 3 times before
I found the leak and didn't want to have to pull it again.

I would use indian head or permatex 300 before I use jb weld.
Just my two pennys.

If at first you don't succeed, get a bigger hammer.
