Sounds nearly like a 3/8 drive 1/2" crowfoot socket would work? I need to do some adjusting on my 440ICD/831.

O.K. Sounds like tool time. Anyone have a photo of this "wrench" to adjust the throwout bearing?

I adjusted mine with a screw driver a 1/2 inch socket and speed wrench. I followed these easy instructions and with the help of a small prybar to loosen up the throwout it worked very smooth. So easy in fact I thoght I had broken something or not done it properly. However it works fine and steers like a dream.

A crowfoot doesn't work because the angle is wrong, that is why I use the end of a wrench cut off and welded to a rod. Even at that, you will need to make two sets, because the angle will be wrong for the other side.

Call it a cop out, but I struck out trying to adjust the steering clutches. I called the local John Deere dealer and they have a old guy there who has worked on MC's. He said bring her in and we'd take a look at it. He also said I'd could work with him so I'd know how next time it was needed. So, hopefully we just need a little adjustment vs pulling finals for repair. Have the old girl loaded on the trailer for the 1 1/2 hour drive to town. Another adventure!

I have the correct wrench which works MOST of the time. In the past, I've done it with a wobble socket and an extension. I taped the socket onto the extension, and got by fine.
