1010 winch controller

Post by stmftr395 » Fri Sep 14, 2007 12:04 pm

Looking for some information concerning the controller for a 1010 winch. Have access to a winch but the controller is missing. Have been told that controllers are hard to find? Can a person fabricate a controller? Seems to me that it is just a hydralic valve assembly. Any help would be appreciated. Anyone with a complete winch for sale should contact me as I am in the market. Thanks Mark

Winch control is basically a dual master cylinder. One way engages the clutch, other way disengages the brake. I would think that the controller off of a Gearmatic should work as well. I have heard that they are available new, but have never priced one.

I am in the process of making one up for my 2010 using two clutch slave cylinders, heim joints, and a prayer.
I'll let you know if it works.

I have a winch I got from my neighbor, not sure who made it.It's to heavy to roll over to find out.But what I was wanting to use as a controller is a single lever cutting brake control for a rail buggy.Baisically 2 mastercylinders mounted over top one another with a push / pull handle for each direction.

Where are they avaible? Need a rebuild kit or a new one for a series 10 on a 1010 crawler.

Has anyone been able to make a controller? I can see the idea but has anyone build one? Was it real common to just through them away when they stopped working, seems to be alot of guys with out one, including myself.
